Moonlight shrine

The Holy power that surrounds the Holy country of Ashiliana since ancient times was known the power of Souma. This Souma dwells in all things in this world and was passed down from generations to generations, continuing to bring good gifts to the people of Ashiliana. But now, the flow of Souma was decreasing and misfortunate was about to come upon the people of Ashiliana, increasing their fear…

In the Holy City of Juliennes, Sir Gardo & Holy Knight Folsetense were worried about Princess Juliennes’ health. As she was closely bond with the power of Souma, she would be affected. Recently, the princess had fallen ill. This meant that the flow of Souma had decreased rapidly. They prayed that Lunalis Lumbra would return to Ashiliana to restore the flow of Souma.

At another place, an archeologist named Faice and her hired bodyguard, Lai went to explore the ruins that were surrounded by swamps.  Inside the ruins, Faice felt that the architecture was built in the Lemille period and it could be linked to the mysterious civilization in the Ashluk Archives. Some time later, they heard the tinkling of bells. Materializing in front of them was a girl dressed in priest-like robes. Lai screamed in terror, tossed Faice across her shoulders and ran for dear life.

Faice was rather displeased with Lai’s unexpected conduct, as she wanted to learn more about the ruins from the ghost girl. Lai rebut with the possibility of being cursed by the ghost girl. Faice doubted Lai’s childish theory and was willing to let Lai leave with her. Then, the tinkling of bells was heard and a group of priests floated across the room. Terrified, Lai ran off, carrying Faice with her. After running for some time, both girls discovered that they were running around in circles.

The ghost girl appeared again and this time, Faice had Lai’s mouth shut as she watched the ghost girl shedding tears. Then, the ground beneath them turned into water. When the girls gained conscious, Faice believed that the ghost girl was trying to tell them something. Looking at the writings on the walls, Faice felt that she would be able to find the connection between the ruins and the ghost girl. After referring to her book and restudying the architecture, Faice learnt that the ruins were meant to protect or store something like water as it was closely linked with the power of Souma during the Lemille period.

The ghost girl appeared for the third time and showed the girls scenes from the past. Surrounding a tree that had the symbol of Souma on it were the people of the lost civilization. When a severe drought struck the land, the flow of Souma decreased as the rivers and lakes dried up. Desperate, the people tried to protect the Souma tree by building a temple around it where they could sink the tree into the underground where it might be revived by the underground waters. Unfortunately, by the time the people had completed the ruins, it was already too late.  All of the water in the rivers and lakes had been dried up and the ground was too hard to sink the Souma tree into underground waters.

After knowing the truth, Faice was mortified. The ghost girl beckoned the girls to place their hands onto a crystal-like object and push it down. She disappeared, leaving the 2 girls behind. Faice decided to fulfill the ghost girl’s wishes at the expense of losing the ruins. Lai supported her.

Without hesitation, the 2 girls pressed the crystal-like object down. Immediately water rushed in and flooded the place. Thinking quickly, Faice told Lai to create a hole in the ceiling so that they could be able to escape. Lai did so but she was too weak to do so. In fact, Lai wasn’t fully qualified to be a Var. Then, unexpectedly, someone appeared and rescued the 2 girls.

The person who had rescued the 2 girls turned out to be Elle, who was supposed to one of the bodyguards hired by Faice. (However, Elle was very late and so Faice and Lai decided to explore the ruins by themselves). Elle told the girls that she heard the tinkling of bells and someone calling out to her for help. Instantly, Faice and Lai thought of the ghost girl.
