During
the Cevar Festival, Gau was at the counter, betting some money on the winner of
the next round. Elle took the whole bag of money from Gau, placed onto the
counter plate and told Gau to bet everything. Gau protested, explaining that it
would be wise to keep some money for rainy days. Elle gave a look. Did Gau think
that she might lose in the next round? The customers started to complain about
the delay that Elle was causing. Gau, being the peacemaker, apologized.
Elle
grumbled at the fact that she was not well known. To make things worse, her
statue was not prepared yet and her name was spelled wrongly. Suddenly, a
green-haired man (named Kore Iks) walked up to her and plainly told her that he
intends to kill her so that he could obtain a fighting name for himself.
At
the Coliseum, Kai Sink reported to King Eve Stolla that the identity of the spy
who attempted to assassinate Elle Lag was impossible to determine because his
belongings came from many parts of the world. The two possibilities were that
the spy was either from Soulfan or those involved in the Termination of the Holy
Country. One of the guards announced the arrival of the Princess of Ashiliana,
Juliennes Lyllvelt Be Bijoue. Accompanying her were Sir Gardo Day, Holy Knight Folstense Lowe and
Holy priestess Guinevia.
At
the waiting room inside the coliseum, Elle and Gau were practicing when Folly
showed up. She cautioned Elle not to lose the fight for it would a disgrace if a
Cevar ever lose a match. However, Elle confidently assured that she would win.
After all, a Cevar was never concerned about winning or losing.
Elle
walked into the arena, placed her fingers onto the tip of the horn of a
unicorn’s statue. With her bleeding fingers, she slashed a mark vertically
down onto her cheek. Then, she recited the ceremonial greeting. “This honoured
battle is dedicated to the great King & Hero Scar-face, this I swear on my
own blood.” A bell rang, signaling the battle to start.
While
Elle was fighting with a demon beast (who could spit out acid salvia and spikes
from its body), Princess Juliennes and her company were commenting on Elle’s
age and she was rather young to be a Cevar. Kai Sink spoke up that age was not a
factor in choosing a Cevar but rather the talent that he possess.
At the other side of the coliseum, Gau and Folly were watching and
cheering for Elle. A stranger, wearing a high collar coat, appeared behind and
criticized Elle’s fighting abilities.
Elle,
feeling bored, finished off the demon beast with the Kuruda Annihilation
Technique – Boomerang. The demon beast fell to the ground and laid still. The
crowd cheered and even more when Elle exposed her Cevar’s crest. Gau was happy
for Elle but once again the stranger criticized Elle’s reckless to attack from
an unnatural position just to evade the demon beast.

At
the basement of the coliseum, the demon hunters Septias were guarding the demon
beasts. The demon beast that Elle fought with was brought into the area. One of
the Septias, a girl, observed that the demon beast was barely alive. Her
companies took a spear and killed it. They explained to her that the beast would
not survive with such injury and killing it would be an act of mercy. Soon, the
Septias left and Kore Iks appeared from his hiding place.
Gau,
Folly and the stranger were talking with each other as they walked down the
market streets. The stranger learnt that Gau was Elle’s younger brother and
his dream was to become a Cevar just like Scar face. He laughed (offending Gau)
and told him to hurry back to his sister, as she would be hungry. Gau left,
leaving Folly with the stranger. Folly, feeling suspicious, asked for his name
but the stranger avoided the question.

Back
at the waiting room inside the coliseum, Elle was doing some stretching
exercises. She suddenly cringed at
the pain from her side muscles. She scolded herself for being careless to attack
from unnatural position. Gau appeared and asked about her injury. Elle was
surprised that Gau knew about it and questioned him. After hearing his encounter
with the stranger, Elle was worried that other people might notice this. True
enough, Kore Iks showed up, claiming that he too, knew about the injury.
(There’s a possibility that he was eavesdropping.) Kore Iks told Elle he was
confident to defeat Elle with his capabilities but he’s going to take
precautions.
Using
a talisman, Kore Iks created an electric barrier around Gau. In addition, the
demon beast that Elle defeated appeared as well. Elle demanded Kore Iks for his
intention in doing this. Kore Iks coldly said if Elle wished Gau to be alive,
she must lose at the final battle. By defeating Elle, he would become the 60th
Cevar with a fighting name of his own.

At
the final round, Elle was forced to comply and put up a very pathetic fight.
Folly, seeing this, became very concerned. Back at the waiting room, Gau
desperately struggled to free himself. He heard the sound of footsteps. Looking
up, he saw the stranger. The stranger removed his high collar and revealed his
real identity – legendary Scar face. Scar face bit his thumb, penetrated
through the barrier and marked Gau’s face vertically down. He then told Gau to
show him his strength.
Gau
recited the Shadow Skill Marital Art Language, broke the barrier and thrashed up
the demon beast. The demon beast crashed through the walls and into the arena.
Seeing Gau was out of danger, Elle decided that it was payback time. Using Kuruda
Annihilation
Technique – Sword, Elle defeated Kore Iks. The defeated Kore Iks was extremely
baffled by his loss. Elle said to him that all fighters should have the maximum
respect for their opponents. Once they lost that respect, the loser had been
decided.

Scar
face returned to where Princess Juliennes & company were waiting for him. He
apologized for his lateness and explained that he was inspecting the new Var,
Gau. Princess Juliennes was pleased with the skill that Elle Lag and Gau Ban had
displayed and praised them. Scar face agreed and said the two would be a help to
Juliennes.
Deep
down inside, Scar face felt that Gau Ban had the potential to become a Cevar.
