Episode 4

 父が遺したもの

What my father left me

At the outer skirts of Kuruda, Elle, Gau, Folly and Kyou had managed to find work at an Octopus Restaurant, which was owned by a girl who was a lot younger than Elle. As usual, Elle was lazing around while Gau and Kyou did all the work. Folly sarcastically said that she should be grateful that they had found a place that was able to accommodate 4 people after being kicked out by the landlord for not being able to pay the rental fees of their rooms.  Elle questioned her being so ‘friendly’. Folly kept silent and quietly said that their battle would come soon.

While Gau was pouring a bag of Dorewalk sand onto the ground, Kyou commented that the Dorewalk sand was also used to create fire besides being used as fertilizer. Upon hearing this, Elle became mischievous and decided to lit up the Dorewalk sand. True enough, the sand did caught fire and a huge explosion proceeded after it.

At once, the Octopus owner came out of the restaurant and mildly scolded them for not heeding her warnings. Elle apologized for the damages that she had made. Later, the 4 of them played a ‘game’ to decide who should stay behind with Octopus owner while the rest go to the city to buy supplies. Elle turned out to be the loser and was forced to wear waitress uniform. Despite her complaining, Elle did her utmost best in serving the customers.

Elle went into the kitchen to collect the dishes when she overheard the Octopus owner having a hostile conversation with a stranger, who offered her a large sum of money in return for the restaurant.  The Octopus owner refused and fiercely told the stranger to leave. Later, the Octopus owner went to the garden to cool herself down.  Elle followed her and tried to cheer her up. During which, a man by the name of Ohiba appeared. The Octopus owner told Elle that Ohiba was a close friend of her late father as well as a regular customer of the Octopus restaurant.

At another place (not far from the restaurant), the stranger (whom the Octopus owner told him to leave) reported that he had yet to gain information on how to use the Dorewalk sand as a weapon of destruction.

Soon, it started to rain and Elle was occupied with mopping the floor. The Octopus owner noticed that the muscles on Elle’s arm and told her that her father was a Var of Kuruda. She also expressed her wish to become the 59th Cevar, Shadow Skill, as she was her most favourite Cevar, mainly because she was a woman. Whenever the Octopus owner felt sad, she would think of Shadow Skill and the thought of her gave her the courage that she needed. Elle indirectly thanked her for her support.

Hours later, Elle was sleeping in her room when she heard a scream. She woke up and rushed down to learn that the Octopus owner’s room had been ransacked. The strangest thing was that nothing was stolen from the room but only the picture of Octopus owner’s late father was slashed. Elle studied the room for any clues and found footprints outside the window. She leapt out of the window and followed the tracks. Meanwhile, Ohiba appeared and comforted the frightened Octopus owner. Elle continued to follow the tracks and discovered that the intruder was one of the customers staying at the restaurant.

Ohiba asked the Octopus owner to think of anything that the intruder could be looking for. While she was thinking hard, Elle appeared and threw a muddy pair of boots and cloak onto the floor. She said that those belongings were from Ohiba, who defended himself by saying that he went out to check on his boat because he was afraid that the storm would wash it away. He went on commenting that nothing was stolen from the room. The Octopus owner was startled by his comment because she had never told anyone about it. Elle was convinced that Ohiba was the intruder.

Knowing that he had let the cat out of the bag, Ohiba revealed to the Octopus owner that her father was actually a weapon inventor from Soulfan. He was doing a research on how to make the Dorewalk sand a destructive weapon when he disappeared without a trace. For years, they had tracking him down to this place but unfortunately, he was already dead. Elle found it disgusting that Soulfan were bend on creating weapons when they should be keeping the peace. Ohiba replied that as long as Kuruda had the weapon known as Cevar, there could never be peace.  He then proceeded on to attack Elle. During which, Elle exposed her secret as the 59th Cevar, Shadow Skill.

Ohiba, knowing that he didn’t have a chance, chose to flee and Elle was hot on his heels. The Octopus owner was too stunned to realize that Elle was the 59th Cevar, Shadow Skill. Then, she noticed some writings on the ceiling, which was secretly reflected from the wall mirror. While Elle was dealing with Ohiba, the Octopus owner, Feorina read the message.

The message was from her late father revealed in his message that he was remorse for creating weapons to kill. So, he decided to destroy his research and leave Soulfan. However, he lived in constant fear that he would be taken back to Soulfan. During which, he met her mother, who had changed his life forever. Sadly, her mother was physically weak and died as soon she (Feorina) was born. Having experienced both life and death at the same time, he decided to take Feorina to this island to start afresh as a restaurant owner. His last wish to Feorina was that she could grow into a woman and live a happy and peaceful life.

Elle chased Ohiba to the garden where the bags of the Dorewalk sands were kept. Out of desperation, Ohiba threw a bomb onto the sands. He died during the explosion while Elle hid herself behind a wall. Later, Elle went back to the restaurant and read Feorina’s father’s message.  She told Feorina to fulfill her father’s last wish.

Gau, Folly, Kyou rushed into the restaurant, thinking that Elle had damaged something again (apparently, they had seen the smoke caused by the explosion while they were returning to the restaurant). Feorina told them the whole story and invited them to stay for as long as they like. Elle accepted the offer on the condition that she wouldn’t need to wear the waitress uniform again.

Spontaneously, everyone teased Elle on how pretty she looked with the waitress uniform on.
