Episode 27: Advent

2 mysterious men by the names of Shien and Zeon (claiming to be gods) attacked a group of demons very effortlessly...

The foursome was about to leave an inn but the innkeeper & his comrades stopped them. A fight nearly broke out when Shien & Zeon entered in. Zeon took out a lighter and lit his cigarette. Gojyo asked him for a light & Zeon did so. The foursome was about to leave but the innkeeper wasn’t going to let them. Zeon smirked and insulted the innkeeper. Within seconds, Zeon had the innkeeper & his comrades (who were actually demons) beaten up tike trash. The foursome left and found more demons waiting for them outside.

Then, a bright light shone upon the demons, turning them into dust. As the light grew dimmer, a purple-haired man in chains descended and introduced himself as Homura Taishi, the successor of the fighting god, Nataku. Goku noticed Homura’s right eye was golden in colour while the other was blue. Homura said Goku was a heretic like himself, whether he was born for good or evil. He seemed to be delighted to see Konzen Douji (meaning Genjo Sanzo). At that moment, Hakkai recalled Kanzeonbosatsu had called Sanzo that name before. Besides that, Homura was also pleased to Kenren Taisho (meaning Gojyo), Tenpu Gensui (Hakkai) and Seiten Tensei (Goku). The main purpose of his visit was to get Sanzo’s sutras of Heaven & Earth. As expected, Sanzo refused.

Homura took out his sword and attacked Sanzo while Shien & Zeon dealt with the others. The reason of collecting the sutras was to destroy Heaven and create a new one. Sanzo shot him but its bullets had no effect on him. Homura smirked and ‘sympathized’ on his beliefs on believing with his eyes, heart and power. Goku managed to sneak past Shien and attacked Homura, who felt that Goku’s naivety and innocent was a hindrance towards his quest.

Soon, more demons appeared. Homura found them a nuisance and annihilated them with one blow. He decided to retreat for now. However, the next time... The foursome resumed their journey rather smoothly expect for Sanzo, who was deeply troubled. Homura was watching them from a cliff and vowed to obtain Sanzo’s sutras and Goku’s power. top

Episode 28: Lonely War (友逆のめるし)

At an inn, the foursome was in their usual habits (Goku  & Gojyo fighting over the food; Sanzo shooting them, telling them to shut up and Hakkai apologizing for the damages caused.) Sanzo stood up and ordered them to leave. Hakkai obliged and dragged Goku & Gojyo (who were screaming for food and beer respectively) out of the inn. Once again, Sanzo deliberately shot them again.

At Mt. Ryokai, Homura found the tower a suitable fortress of his own since it represents how people were trying to reach Heaven. He lured the demons to become his followers in return for godhood. The demons agreed and became his followers. Once in control, Homura proceed on to go to Tenjiku. In Heaven, Jiroshin reported that Homura was using the Heaven army for his own usage. Kanzeonbosatsu remained very calm because the whole situation looked like Homura was using it to subdue the demon population. Sadly for Homura, a half god half human, he’s fated to suffer the same lonely fate like Nataku did. Jiroshin was worried that they might rebel against Heaven and create chaos. Kanzeonbosatsu didn’t care at all. After all, it wouldn’t be fun to stop them till the last minute.

Meanwhile, at another inn, the foursome found out that the inn had only one room available. The owner suggested putting 3 more mattresses to accommodate the foursome. Instantly, the foursome cringed at the idea. Later, the foursome decided to use the card method in determining who should have the bed for the night. Goku had a king card; Gojyo an Ace; Sanzo a Spade of Aces and Hakkai… well, he’s got the Joker. Goku freaked out and pounced onto the bed, refusing to move. Gojyo tried to pull him away but ended up wrestling with him. At that moment, the owner came in and saw Gojyo ‘on top’ of Goku. Embarrassed, she quickly left. Gojyo felt his reputation had been ruined.

Outside Boutou Castle, Homura remembered the times when Genjo Sanzo was Konzen Douji. During that time, Konzen was so bored to death with his paper work till he could nearly kill himself. Then one day, Kanzeonbosatsu came & ordered him to follow her. In the throne room, a servant brought in Goku, a heretic because he’s born from the powers of Earth and was neither god nor demon. Since the first time they met, it had caused Konzen Douji his godhood and his memories of Heaven erased. After recalling for a while, Homura ordered the Heaven Army to attack Boutou Castle.

In Heaven, Kanzeonbosatsu said the gods used heretics for their own selfish purposes. Like Nataku, Homura was exempted from the Heaven’s rule of no killing and made to kill all those who stand against Heaven. It was their sad and painful destiny for all those chosen as fighting gods.

While the foursome was quietly sleeping, Boutou Castle was under siege. top

Episode 29: Unexpected Defeat(ぼう登城.陥落)

Unknown to the foursome, Boutou Castle was under siege…

Kougaji received reports that the attackers were gods and they had totally wiped out all the security. Thinking that they were after his father, Gyumao, he rushed (9together with Dokugaji) down to the basement. As anticipated, Homura proceeded to the basement, letting Shien & Zeon to deal with the remaining demons. Zeon, with his rattling gun, was taking immense enjoyment in slaughtering the demons till he recognized one of them. At the basement, Kougaji was waiting for Homura but he was shocked to discover Homura’s true intentions- He wants the Holy Sutras (Komyo Sanzo’s sutras) only. Seeing a hidden staircase, Homura knew Gyokumen Koshu had fled. Kougaji & Dokugaji fought him but they were instantly tossed aside like trash. Homura remarked that it didn’t matter whether the power was from a holy or evil source; the strongest will rule Heaven & Earth. Then, he left. The injured Kougaji swore to make him pay a 100 times over.

Meanwhile, Sanzo awoke to find Kanzeonbosatsu (literally) on top of him.

Zeon recognized the demon to be one responsible for the murders of his wife (Mirei) & son (Some time ago, Zeon was expelled from heaven because he had secretly married a human and had a son with her. Zeon didn’t care because he hated heaven & desired to leave. Then, one day, he came home and found them dead. Since then, Zeon bore a hatred for demons and broke the scared rule of killing). After a short mini fight, Zeon avenged his family’s deaths. Gyokumen Koshu nearly escape to safety when Homura shown up. Dr Ni also shown up (from somewhere) and coaxed Gyokumen Koshu to give the Holy Sutras to Humura in exchange for their lives. She reluctantly agreed.

After teleporting Sanzo outside the inn, Kanzeonbosatsu warned him that the oncoming journey would be more painful and it’s their mental strength that would keep them alive. Sanzo was perturbed by her words and kept awake the rest of the night.

At Mt. Ryokai, Zeon decided to stay with Homura until his task of creating a new Heaven & Earth is completed. top

Episode 30: Undertaker (地獄への招待状)

Homura had 'converted' a demon into his own slave and ordered him to bring back Genjo Sanzo's Sutras...

The foursome arrived at a very isolated village. While examining the surroundings, 4 coffins appeared and so did the demon who introduced himself as, Undertaker. Like Homura, Sanzo's bullets had no effect on him. Then, he left, leaving the foursome on their own for a while. However, whenever, he reappeared to taunt them with the things that the foursome were denied of (food, cigarettes, liquor and women (that's for Gojyo only)) simply because he wanted the village to be his perfect utopia. At an empty bar, Undertaker showed them an illusion of what he did with the village people. Disgusted, Sanzo came up with a plan.

Within minutes, the foursome began to vandalize the village, creating such havoc and destruction that the Undertaker became angry and attacked them, using the 4 coffins for his offensive and defensive moves. Seeing this, the foursome destroyed the coffins and each of them took his own sweet revenge upon the Undertaker. Finally, Sanzo finished him off with his Sutras. Before Undertaker died, he cried Homura's name.

While leaving the village, Goku felt that they were in Hell because there were no food, drink or cigarettes. Teasingly, Hakkai remarked that Heaven could be like that as well. Goku cringed. Quietly, Sanzo said they were neither going to Heaven nor Hell, they were going to the West.  top
