The Golden River

In the Spring of the 15th year of the Taisho Era, Oogami was packing his things for his departure to Paris. While doing so, he came across a teddy bear necklace ...

In the late summer of the 14th year, team Hanagumi were spending their free time at carnival. While Iris was playing at one of the game stalls, team Hanagumi had a mini discussion on how much Iris has grown and her coping with the pressure being the main role of their next play, 'The blue bird' (which is about 2 children who are trying the blue bird that would make people happy). Oogami took great notice that Iris didn't like to be treated as a kid or being called as one. Still, he was happy to see Iris being delighted to win a teddy bear necklace at one of the game stalls. Later, the team went to a cinema to watch an action picture about a village celebrating the Ryujin festival. Both Leni and Iris were intensely engrossed in it.

The next day, while Oogami & Yoneda were on a fishing trip, the team were busy rehearsing. Iris wasn't able to cope with pressure and unreasonably blamed Reni for her poor performance. Surprisingly, Reni agreed with her. Kanna tried talking some sense into Iris but she remained stubborn and ran off. Inside her room, Iris stared hard at the calendar.

At night, Reni was practicing her lines on stage while Maria came in. She told Reni to express her true feelings and not to give in to Iris' childish demands. Reni replied that it was her duty a minor character to make Iris shine like sun, especially her child-like character. Meanwhile, Iris left a note onto one of the tables of the dining hall before leaving the theater.

The following day, Oogami & Yoneda were still on their fishing trip. After reading Iris' letter, team Hanagumi decided to search for her. As for Iris, she was somewhere in town, listening to storyteller. Iris was moved by the story and wished to be free from the burdens of her life. Turning around, she sees a boat. A thought came to her mind...

Maria & Reni were at a neighbouring street when they saw a boat moving uncontrollably fast. Instantly, they spot Iris inside the boat. Maria tried to get into the boat but failed. Reni ran in a different direction and managed to jump into the boat before it crashed into fishing ship. During the action, Iris' teddy bear necklace fell into the river.

Later, Iris asked Reni (who was repairing the boat) if she knew what she wants with life. Reni replied that they should go together to find their own blue bird (the bird that would bring them happiness). Also, Iris should keep her childlikeness even though she was growing up.

Meanwhile, Kadae informed the rest that Iris & Reni were located at the Sumida River. At a port, Koran was busy in remodeling a ship. Orihime was very skeptical about the ship (since Koran's inventions always ended up in pieces after a big explosion). In the end, Koran was forced to resort to an alternative solution. Soon, everybody (Koran, Maria, Sumire, Kanna, Sakura & Orihime) squeezed themselves into a tiny boat that had a motor engine attached at the back (Just think of a small sized speed boat).

Soon, team Hangumi has found Iris and Reni at a village that was celebrating the Ryujin Festival. Within minutes, everybody was joining in the fun and Iris finally understood what Reni meant by keeping her childlikeness. After thanking and apologizing to Reni, Iris wants to return to the theater for their final rehearsal.

As for the 2 men, Yoneda was upset because he hadn't caught a fish the entire day. For Oogami, he had fished out Iris' teddy bear necklace.

On the night of the play, 'The Blue Bird', Oogami returned the teddy bear necklace to Iris who surprisingly insisted that he should have it instead. Though Oogami was puzzled by Iris' changed behaviour, he accepted her gift.

Before the play started, Iris told Reni that she had found her blue bird. It was with her all the time.
