Episode 6

白と黒の雷光

Black and White Lightening

In a coliseum, King Eva Stolla with his pupil, White lightening Low were watching a group of students practicing their skills. King Eva Stolla commented that the Skills used in the Kuruda Annihilation Technique were white as well as black. Even though Low was known as White Lightening, there would be another person with the name of Black Lightening. That person to fit that name would be Shadow Skill’s younger brother who also had great potential to become a Cevar. Upon hearing this, White Lightening Low wished to challenge him.

At the Octopus restaurant, Elle and Gau returned from their morning training. As usual, Gau was defeated and was literally covered with bruises. Kyou, concerned, offered to treat his wounds but Gau turned her down, saying that his wounds were minor bruises. Elle teased him and actually kiss a bump on Gau’s head, causing Kyou to be completely jealous while Gau was totally embarrassed. Kyou, still fluming with jealousy, went off to town to get supplies for the restaurant.

Meanwhile, Low was standing in front of Scar face’s statue and wondered about the poses that he should make when he earned the title of Cevar. A group of girls walked by and talked about the 59th Cevar, Elle Lag. Low instantly shunned them off. To him, it was improper for a woman to become a mercenary. Instead she should be gentle, caring, demure… etc.  While being deep in his thoughts, Low accidentally bumped into Kyou. The moment he saw Kyou, it was love at first sight. He tried to strike up a conversation but Kyou politely left. Still, Low was determined to win her heart.

For days, Kyou had been receiving anonymous letters which she couldn’t understand its contents. Folly volunteered to help her translated the letters for her. After reading one letter, Folly mischievously told Kyou that it was a love letter from a secret admirer. Kyou became excited and thought that it was Gau who wrote them. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Gau who wrote the letters. To make things worse (or hilarious), Elle misinterpreted that someone was having a strong grudge against Kyou. As expected, Kyou walked off angrily, leaving Elle and Gau baffled. That night, Kyou leaned against her windowsill and sighed heavily. Outside the restaurant was Low, who thought that Kyou had fallen for him.

The next day, Elle and Gau continued to ‘analyze’ the letters, much to Kyou’s annoyance. It was concluded between Elle and Gau that someone was going to kidnap Kyou very soon. Immediately, Kyou left in a huff. Gau followed her to town, insisting that she should be guarded based on Elle’s orders. Kyou instantly snapped at Gau for being so obedient to whatever Elle said to him. She ran off. Gau tried to follow but lost sign of her.

After running away from Gau, Kyou walked alone along the alleys. Then, she heard someone following her. Frightened, she quickly sped off into the market streets. In the midst of doing so, she tripped and fell. At that moment, Low made his ‘heroic’ entrance. Seeing her frightened face and Gau (who had just arrived), Low thought that he was terrorizing Kyou. Without delay, Low attacked Gau. Luckily, Kyou stopped the fight.  Later, Low confessed to Kyou that he was the one who wrote the love letters to her. Gau instantly accused him of trying to kidnap Kyou. Low was slightly taken back by his outburst. Then a horrible realization came to Low’s mind, Gau had read his love letters!  Totally upset, Low challenged Gau to a duel. (Poor Gau, how bad can his luck get!)

Soon, Gau and Low were in a coliseum, together with Kyou, Folly and Elle. Low formally introduced himself White Lightening Low, Front Skill. Then, he saw Elle and recognized her as the 59th Cevar, Shadow Skill. Low set off in chiding her for being lack in her training. Elle rebut, saying she would be here to support Gau. Low strongly felt that Elle was being too lenient with herself and Gau. In addition, how could Gau become a Cevar, much less protecting Kyou? Within seconds, Low was beating the heck out of Gau. Folly observed that Low had a great potential to become a Cevar since his speed, strength and agility were much greater than Gau’s. Elle felt that Gau was doing poorly because he was struggling with himself to find a reason to fight Low. Kyou, wanting to stop the fight, ran in between the two fighters just as Low was using Kuruda Annihilation Technique, Haken.

Low watched in horror as he thought Kyou would be injured in the process. Luckily, Gau blocked the blow. His face set grim. Gau told Low that he would show that he was capable of protecting Kyou. Folly smiled, knowing that Gau’s true strength would appear when he was defending someone. So, the fight between Gau and Low dragged on throughout the entire day and night.

The next morning, Kyou awoke to find Gau and Low, still fighting. Finally, both men collapsed out of exhaustion. When they have recovered, Low thanked Gau for accepting the duel. He was convinced that Gau had a potential to become a Cevar. In the end, they became friends, agreeing upon that they should compete to see who gets the title of Cevar.
